SB Acoustics’ Gema is a three-way floorstander drawn as a deliberate nod to the big speakers of the 1970s: a generous walnut-veneer cabinet built around a 12″ Norex paper woofer, a 4″ Norex midrange and a 25.4 mm textile dome. Bass: the 12″ SB34NRXL75-8
The beating heart of Gema’s bass performance is the 12″ SB34NRXL75-8 woofer. With its exceptional control and tuneful bassline, this driver reproduces low frequencies with astonishing depth and accuracy. Midrange: the 4″ SB12MNRX2-25-4
Handling the critical midrange is the 4″ SB12MNRX2-25-4 paper cone driver, operating seamlessly from 680Hz to 3kHz. This component excels in transparency, delivering vocals and instrumentals with a natural warmth and clarity that draws listeners into the heart of the performance. Its low moving mass and exceptional linearity ensure an uncolored, lifelike sound.

At the top end, the SB26STAC-c000-4 soft dome tweeter takes charge. Its precision ensures that every cymbal crash, violin stroke, and whisper of high-frequency detail is reproduced with finesse.

Getting the placement right
To unlock the full potential of the Gema loudspeakers:
- Space them 2.5–3 meters apart, ensuring they’re clear of side and rear walls.
- Elevate the speakers about 25cm from the floor and tilt them back at 6 degrees for the ideal listening angle.
- While the tweeter and midrange are designed to face outward, experimenting with toe-in can further refine the soundstage based on room acoustics.
